
From early February to now, I’ve been skating consistently since I joined Substance Skate Park. I think it’ll help, and I will improve by summer. For years, I did not skate much in winter, so how much I’ll improve is a guess. But I want to get good. On a sour note, I somehow stopped the weighted jump rope routine. In late January, I started smoking cigarettes again and lost some drive. But I quit cigarettes for over a week now, and I need to carry on with my goals.
The main goal is to be fit, be in shape, and have a flat stomach by summer. The weighted jump rope and speed trick jump rope helped with upper body strength. I think I’ll aim to do that 2 to 3 times a week. I will try for five sets with the weighted jump rope. If I average 60 reps, that’s over 300 reps total. And then I’ll do three sets each of 5 different trick jumps with the speed jump rope. That was my routine before I stopped in late January.
To lose weight and belly fat, I think I need more aerobic exercise, so I plan to jog/run again. In mid-February, my sister and her family visited NYC and stayed in Harlem. On that Sunday morning, we jogged looking for a bakery; most were closed on Sunday mornings. Anyway, I could do it. So today I jogged on the boardwalk for 15 minutes. That is not bad for the first time doing it. Now that the weather is starting to get good, I should be able to get in 3 jogging sessions in a week. My goal will be to reach 30 minutes, and then increase my pace. If I can reach 30 minutes at around 3 miles, working up to 4 miles in 30 minutes might be better than trying to go longer.
My goal is to be active, get in shape, and improve my skateboard skills. So, all this workout stuff I need to be able to wake up in the morning for an exercise routine. After work, most days should be for skating. The days are longer starting today, and the weather should be getting better. For my indoor park membership, it’s $120 a month. A day pass is $20. So I need to go at least 6 times a month for it to be worth it. In summer, I’ll try to skate outside mostly, but there will be times when it rains, and on Thursdays, I don’t get out of work until 8 pm.
I’ve made a lot of fitness plans over the years, but I’m optimistic this one will work.
